Now, more than ever, it’s important to find creative ways to stay connected to our communities and ourselves, while disconnecting, temporarily, from our news and social media feeds. Luckily, here in Sonoma County, we have a great community of yogis, meditation mentors, and mindful folks, all of whom have found ways to stay connected and share their knowledge and wisdom virtually. Below, we’ve put together a round-up of wellness activities you can participate in from the comfort and safety of your own home.

Guided Meditations

Shastri Joanne Martin Braun, of Sonoma Shambhala Meditation Center, is leading virtual meditations via Zoom on weekday and weekend mornings. The class will sit together for a half-hour from 7:30-8:00. Then, if you would like to stay, they have a few minutes for personal check-ins until 8:15. If 7:30 is a bit too early or if you’d prefer the weekend, then drop into Chris Bacon’s 9:00 a.m. class on Sunday.

Margaret Lindgren, owner and operator of Unbeaten Path Tours & Yoga, is sharing her free guided meditations that you can view at your leisure. You’ll find a few of her favorite guided meditations as recited from the various books of Guru Rattana, featuring videos with stunning natural imagery.  These guided meditations offer inspiration, and natural beauty, during a time when many of us remain at home.

Margaret is also offering two live online yoga classes each week from 4-5 p.m. Both the Kundalini Mantra on Mondays and Kundalini Flow on Wednesdays are for all levels and $12 per class. The goal of the class is to bring a deeper connection within body, mind, and soul, bringing peace of mind, clarify, and calm.

For those interested in a quick start self-care tool, Rebecca Heartfly's 30 Day Self-Care Bootcamp is currently enrolling. Rebecca also offers an eight-week Life Transformation Program to experience the long term benefit of her healing sessions.

Audio & Virtual Yoga Classes

Stay strong and stay connected to community with virtual yoga sessions, courtesy of local Sonoma County yoga studios. Join Three Dog Yoga for a daily home practice on-demand. For those looking for a live experience, their (currently virtual) studio is a warm, welcoming space, and a vibrant, fun-loving community offering classes over Zoom seven days a week. They believe in playing big, sharing from the heart and creating joy on the planet. This combination of tradition and lightheartedness is the inspiration for the Three Dog culture and community.

All skill levels are welcome to connect via Zoom with Vinita Laroia of Yoga on Center for classes on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday at 9 a.m. Influenced by the natural world and the many places she has traveled, Vinita’s style is based on a sense of deep ecology and global philosophy. Yoga on Center also offers lives classes through Zoom seven days a week.

Finally, join Nina Jarnum of Foo Dog Yoga and Well Sonoma, which separately offers virtual classes through The Yoga Van, in Zoom livestream yoga classes. Nina, a self-professed anatomy geek, likes bending the rules and challenging yoga dogma. Her approach to asana is based on bio-mechanic intelligence and she is known for her ability to break down handstands and arm balances, teaching students anatomically correct body engagement.

A variety of yoga studios offer live stream classes through Zoom, including Yoga Hell, Yoga at the Village, Thrive Yoga, Riverbed Yoga, Radiate, Westside Yoga, and Energize Hot Yoga. For classes on-demand, Renew, Soul, and Soulstice Mind + Body offer video libraries. Yoga Community and Tone Fitness offer both livestream classes and on-demand video libraries. For unique classes, Dhyana Center offers a webinar at-home health series and POST Wellness by Design offers movement classes via Zoom.

Breathe in. Breathe out. And take one day at a time.
