The ghosts are up and about in the cemeteries and pumpkins abound. Take your pick of family friendly festivals, roam through a cemetery, or immerse yourself in the terror of the season in a haunted village.

Note for 2021: Many area businesses are announcing their Halloween events later than usual this year, so be sure to revisit this space for more fun ideas!

Hallowine Run

Held annually on the last Saturday of October, the Hallowine Run attracts runners from all over the country. The stunningly beautiful course for the half marathon and 10k starts at Francis Ford Coppola Winery in Geyserville and runs past autumn-colored vineyards and more than 25 wineries. The 5k starts at Yoakim Bridge in the Dry Creek Valley and runs on the last three miles of the half-marathon course. At the completion of the race, participants are treated to a post-race festival featuring wine tasting, a beer garden, food trucks, live band, exhibitors, awards ceremony, and costume contest.

Haunted Village at Pronzini Pumpkin Patch

Not recommended for children under 10 years old, this outdoor version of a haunted house aims to spook you with ghouls, spirits, caskets, and even an eerie building or three.  Other parts of this popular Petaluma pumpkin patch are far less frightening, featuring vintage vehicles, teepees, a straw bale maze, games like cornhole, pony rides, pedal cars, and plenty of farm animals. You can even pick your own jack o' lantern pumpkin right off the vine.
