Sonoma County Tourism produces “In This Together” video

SANTA ROSA, April 17, 2020 – While travel continues to be restricted, and we all shelter in place, Sonoma County hospitality and civic leaders are sending an important message of solidarity and virtual connectedness though a new video created by Sonoma County Tourism.

Entitled “In This Together,” the video is part of a series of messages that Sonoma County Tourism (SCT) is creating as they work to support the local community during the COVID-19 outbreak. The messages of hope, optimism, and togetherness are brought to life by representatives from Sonoma County’s tourism and hospitality industry, including wine, breweries, attractions, parks and tour operators. Susan Gorin, Chairwoman of the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors, is also featured at the beginning of the video.

Viewers are encouraged to stay safe, have fun and dream about traveling. They are also provided with suggestions on how to support Sonoma County during the pandemic, including purchasing wine online, or ordering takeout from their favorite restaurant. Sonoma County Tourism asks that fans use social media to post pictures, videos and stories about how they’re supporting Sonoma County, by using the hashtag #LifeOpensUp.

“Through the pandemic, people are searching for all sorts of ways to connect with one another,” said Todd O’Leary, vice president of marketing and communications at Sonoma County Tourism. “This video allows us to bring a series of optimistic messages into people’s homes, at a time they need it the most. We think about it as a sweet letter from Sonoma County to everyone who loves Sonoma County.”

The video can be found, and shared, on YouTube as well as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. In its first few days of distribution, the video has already garnered over 25,000 views on Sonoma County Tourism channels alone.

Future video projects are being worked on at Sonoma County Tourism, as ways the organization is finding to create and maintain connections during the Shelter in Place order.

“Be well and stay safe, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Sonoma County”, wishes Sonoma County Tourism President & CEO, Claudia Vecchio. “Meanwhile, we hope you'll continue to enjoy Sonoma County's beauty, amazing food, and great drinks, just from afar. See you soon!”
